Actor Spencer Boldman is set to star as country music icon Ronnie Milsap in an upcoming biopic based on Milsap’s autobiography, Almost Like a Song. The film is being produced by Gary Negherbon of Negherbon Media Group, with Boldman’s longtime manager, Antonia DeNardo, also involved. Boldman will also serve as an executive producer on the project.
Milsap, who was born blind, became one of country music’s most influential crossover artists, blending pop, R&B, and rock into his hits like “It Was Almost Like a Song,” “Smoky Mountain Rain,” and “(There’s) No Gettin’ Over Me.” He earned six Grammy Awards throughout his career, including the prestigious 1991 Country Music Entertainer of the Year Award, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2014.
Boldman, known for his roles in Welcome to Chippendales and Disney Channel’s Lab Rats, has also appeared in films such as Cruise and 21 Jump Street. He is represented by Antonia DeNardo at Millennium Artists, Coast to Coast, and Derek Kroeger at Myman, Greenspan, Fox, Rosenberg, Mobasser Younger & Light.
