The Doobie Brothers are gearing up for a new musical chapter with the announcement of their upcoming album Walk This Road, slated for release in 2025.
In a heartfelt year-end message posted to Facebook, founding member Patrick Simmons shared that the band is “almost ready” to unveil the record, describing it as a goal they’ve set for the new year. Simmons revealed that Walk This Road will feature 10 fresh tracks, with vocals from Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald, and himself.
“We have 10 new songs sung by Tom, Michael, and Pat. The three of us wrote and collaborated together,” Simmons wrote. “We had a lot of fun recording it, and we feel very proud of the results.” He also teased that fans could expect a debut single shortly after the start of 2025, with the full album following in the Spring or Summer.
This album marks the Doobie Brothers’ first new release since their 2021 album Liberté, and it’s the first full collection of original material featuring McDonald since the 1980 album One Step Closer.
Simmons concluded the message by sending holiday well-wishes to fans, expressing excitement for the upcoming year and promising more to come, including tour dates. “We look forward to seeing you in your town next year,” he wrote.
