Tensions between country-folk singer Oliver Anthony and Parker McCollum escalated recently, with a fan voicing their displeasure at McCollum’s concert in response to Anthony’s accusations.
In early December, Anthony raised eyebrows by accusing a fellow country artist of using autotune, backing tracks, and drum loops during live performances. Though he didn’t name McCollum directly, fans quickly made the connection, especially after Anthony’s comments sparked a wave of speculation about who he was referring to.
The controversy came to a head during McCollum’s performance at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock, Kansas. As McCollum was on stage, a fan yelled, “F**k Oliver Anthony,” a clear sign of frustration over the ongoing public exchange. McCollum, unfazed by the remark, responded with a simple, “Word,” which was met with laughter and cheers from the crowd.
The Texas-based singer then took the opportunity to address the controversy directly: “And I just want you guys to know that when you come see my show, when you come see me and these guys right here, there ain’t a damn thing fake about it. You understand what I’m sayin’?”
The moment was captured on video and quickly shared across social media, fueling further debate about the tensions between the two artists. Fans of McCollum have rallied around the singer, emphasizing his commitment to authenticity in his live performances.
