As K-pop continues to dominate the global music scene, top agencies like JYP Entertainment, SM Entertainment, BigHit Music, and Starship Entertainment are set to introduce new groups that are poised to captivate fans in 2025.
JYP Entertainment kicks things off with the highly anticipated debut of its seven-member boy group, KickFlip. The group was officially unveiled by JYP head Park Jin-young at the 2024 MAMA Awards, where he shared that the group’s debut preparations are nearly complete. Scheduled for a grand launch in early 2025, KickFlip aims to break conventions with its name inspired by the skateboarding technique of rotating a board 360 degrees. Four of the members are finalists from the 2021 survival show LOUD, a joint venture between JYP and PSY, although one member, Yoon Min, left the agency last year to debut solo. While the group was initially set to drop promotional content this week, the tragic Jeju Air plane crash has led to a delay, pushing their debut to January 6.
SM Entertainment is also making waves with plans to debut a new girl group in the first quarter of 2025, marking its first new female group in five years since aespa. The debut is part of SM’s broader strategy to celebrate its 30th anniversary, with co-CEO Jang Cheol-hyuk promising exciting new releases across albums, concerts, and merchandise. Additionally, SM’s first British boy group, dearALICE, is set to make its debut after securing a partnership with the U.S. label gamma.
Meanwhile, BigHit Music, known for BTS and Tomorrow X Together, is preparing to introduce a new boy group. Following a global audition in 2023, BigHit is scouting talent to build upon its already legendary roster. Starship Entertainment, home to IVE, is also on track to debut a new boy group, with their open audition process for 2025 New Kids On The STARSHIP still ongoing.
With so many new debuts on the horizon, 2025 is shaping up to be another landmark year for K-pop as these agencies aim to continue their global expansion with fresh talent and innovative concepts.
