The Cross Street Music Festival is set to return on March 8, 2025, with an electrifying lineup and a theme of “Out Of This World,” promising an unforgettable night of live music and vibrant celebration. Organizers have just unveiled the first nine artists confirmed for the event, setting the stage for an exciting day of musical discovery.
This year’s festival will once again take place in the heart of Auckland’s Karangahape district, where the creative energy of the community will blend with the best of New Zealand’s music scene. Since its inception in 2018, Cross Street Music Festival has aimed to create memorable experiences, exploring the rich cultural identity of Aotearoa through the universal language of music.
The first wave of confirmed artists includes a diverse range of talents from across the music spectrum:
CHAII: Persian-Kiwi artist Chaii is making waves in the hip-hop world, blending Persian influences with electronica. Following the release of her debut album Safar, Chaii continues to push boundaries, and her collaboration with Tones And I and Young Franco is generating buzz.
Who Shot Scott: This experimental hip-hop project, created by Iraqi-born, New Zealand-raised artist Zee, combines heavy beats and introspective lyrics with tribal drums for a unique sound.
Blake: A soulful alt-pop artist with a background in drum and bass, Blake’s infectious songs are influenced by artists like Amy Winehouse and Nelly Furtado, bringing honesty and catchy hooks to the stage.
Ardon England: A queer Māori artist, Ardon brings high-energy dance beats and messages of inclusivity and self-expression to the forefront with his creative performances.
Caru & Brandn Shiraz: Blending UK Garage and Aotearoa hip-hop, this duo delivers a fresh, dynamic sound, with Caru’s production and Brandn Shiraz’s fiery vocals creating an exciting fusion of genres.
Mammalien: A five-piece freak-folk ensemble, Mammalien embraces prog-folk, post-grunge, and psych-pop influences, helmed by Joshua Worthington-Church and featuring members from Princess Chelsea and Exploding Rainbow Orchestra.
Lips: A genre-defying indie pop band led by Steph Brown and Fen Ikner, Lips mixes gritty rap influences with dreamy synth-pop, creating a sound that’s both intimate and anthemic.
Little Bok Choy: DJ and artist Eva Choy brings a genre-blending mix of hip-hop, R&B, afrobeats, and house/electronic to the stage, with infectious energy and irresistible grooves.
Early bird tickets are already available for this highly anticipated event, which promises to be an incredible celebration of music, creativity, and community.
