Dan Snaith, the mastermind behind Caribou, is taking his Australian tour to the next level with a series of free pop-up DJ sets across the country. Following his ongoing tour, Snaith will play four-hour DJ sets in Melbourne, Torquay, Sydney, and Byron Bay this weekend, giving fans an unmissable opportunity to hear his eclectic mix of music.
“You don’t need to sign up. Just show up,” says Snaith, emphasizing his excitement to share his vast musical selection. “I’m playing long sets because I’ve got so much music I want to play for you.”
The free pop-up events will kick off on Thursday, January 9, at the Torquay Hotel in Torquay, VIC, with DJ Eddie Example (8 pm–1 am). On Friday, January 10, Snaith will bring his set to Fed Square in Melbourne (7 pm–11 pm). Saturday, January 11, will see Snaith take over Manning Open-Air at Sydney Uni, NSW, where he’ll join DJ Harry Hayes (6 pm–midnight). The weekend wraps up on Sunday, January 12, at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay, NSW, with support from Bradley Zero and DJ Moxies.
These pop-up performances follow Snaith’s headline tour across Australia, which has included stops in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, and wraps up tonight (January 7) with his first Western Australia performance since 2015 at the Fremantle Arts Centre.
The tour celebrates Caribou’s latest album, Honey, released on October 4. The album merges Snaith’s dual personas—Caribou and Daphni—offering a dynamic blend of dancefloor bangers and uplifting melodies. Honey has been lauded by critics, with CLASH describing it as a “stellar addition to the discography” and praise from Pitchfork, The Guardian, Stereogum, and more.
