Pangea is set to launch its inaugural Incubator Festival, a dynamic new showcase celebrating cross-disciplinary talent in theater, music, comedy, and storytelling, in the heart of New York’s East Village. The festival promises to highlight innovative and unconventional works that often defy categorization but resonate deeply with audiences.
Kicking off on January 13, the Incubator Festival will feature an impressive lineup of performances from artists including Emma Sofia (Mon, Jan 13), David Mills (Fri, Jan 17), David Dean Bottrell (Sat, Jan 18), Penny Arcade (Sun, Jan 19), and Jamie Brickhouse (Sun, Jan 26).
“We want to shine a light on new work that’s hard to categorize but strikes a deep chord,” said Stephen Shanaghan, Pangea’s co-owner and entertainment director. “We’ll continue to host these festivals whenever we discover a wave of exciting new work that deserves to be fully realized.”
Pangea, a hub for the burgeoning alt-cabaret scene, has long been known for nurturing and presenting eclectic, avant-garde artists. The venue’s previous roster includes renowned performers like Tammy Faye Starlite, David Cale, Salty Brine, and Penny Arcade, among others.
At each Incubator Festival, attendees will have the opportunity to vote for a “Stand-Out Show.” Additionally, patrons purchasing two tickets to any show will receive 50% off admission to all other festival performances.
All shows will take place in Pangea’s intimate 60-seat Cabaret Room, designed by co-owner Arnoldo Caballero y Cespedes. Tickets for the festival are available for $20-$30, with a $20 food and drink minimum per person.
