Portland-based musician, engineer, and producer Steve Drizos has unveiled his highly anticipated sophomore album, i love you now, leave me alone, released via Cavity Search Records. Known for his extensive career as a touring drummer and his role as a studio owner at The Panther in Southeast Portland, Drizos has worked with a wide array of artists, including Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers), Debbi Peterson (The Bangles), Spencer Tweedy, and Chris Funk (The Decemberists), among many others.
In addition to his work behind the scenes, Drizos has cemented his place in the music world with his solo projects. His debut solo album, Axiom, arrived in 2021, born from the isolation of the early pandemic. For Axiom, Drizos played most of the instruments himself, embracing a DIY approach. However, with his new release, i love you now, leave me alone, Drizos took a different route, recording demos before assembling a full band to bring the songs to life.
The result is an album that blends the raw energy of 90s guitar rock with elements of pop and folk, marking a powerful evolution in Drizos’ songwriting. With eight tracks full of emotional depth and sonic variety, i love you now, leave me alone highlights Drizos’ growth as an artist while still paying homage to his musical roots.
