What began as a wild idea between two lifelong friends—a bartender and a banker—has evolved into a transformative event for rural Henry County, Illinois, particularly in the small town of Galva. Each August, the Back Road Music Festival draws thousands of country music fans, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Now in its 11th year, the festival’s grounds are unlike any other. The stage, rising from a natural amphitheater surrounded by cornfields and windmills, offers a breathtaking panoramic view, allowing festivalgoers to take in the vast expanse for miles.
The event has become more than just a concert; it’s a celebration of community. The festival is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, making it a destination for people from all walks of life to gather, enjoy great music, and support local charities. With one ticket, festivalgoers gain access to multiple performances, delicious food and drinks, and the chance to be part of a charitable cause. It’s a place where memories are made, and the spirit of giving back shines through.
The 2025 festival promises to be a standout year, with legendary country band Alabama set to headline the event. Alabama, known for their 1980 hit “My Home’s in Alabama,” has sold over 80 million albums and charted 43 #1 singles, including a record-breaking 21 consecutive #1 hits—a feat unmatched in the country music world. The band’s impressive list of accolades includes 178 CMA, Grammy, and ACM Awards, as well as 21 Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum albums. They were also named the RIAA’s Country Group of the Century and inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Joining Alabama on stage will be BlackHawk, the iconic ‘90s country group known for their powerful harmonies and chart-topping hits. With over 7 million albums sold and a loyal fan base, BlackHawk’s electrifying live performances continue to draw large crowds year after year.
More headliners will be announced soon, making the 2025 Back Road Music Festival an event you won’t want to miss.
