Tennis star Naomi Osaka has announced the end of her relationship with rap music star Cordae, revealing the news via her Instagram story on Monday. The 27-year-old athlete clarified that while their romantic relationship has ended, there are no hard feelings between the two.
“Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship,” Osaka wrote. “No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad. Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”
Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam singles champion, confirmed that she and Cordae will continue to co-parent their daughter, Shai, who was born in 2023.
The announcement comes after some public speculation about their relationship. In 2023, Osaka tweeted, “I just want someone that will watch the sunset with me,” sparking rumors of a breakup, followed by a post on “the art of loving yourself” and a like on a tweet about walking away from people who don’t value you.
Though the split has garnered mixed reactions online, with some critical comments regarding Osaka’s personal life, she has maintained a positive tone, emphasizing the importance of her daughter and the mutual respect between her and Cordae.
