Multi-platinum artist, tech innovator, and creative powerhouse will.i.am is set to make a special appearance on South Korea’s Mnet channel for a highly anticipated episode of The K-Star Next Door. The episode, which is part of a special edition titled The World-Star Next Door, will air on January 14 at 6 PM (KST) on the program’s YouTube channel, and on January 17 at 8 PM (KST) on Mnet.
In a teaser released earlier this week, it was revealed that ZEROBASEONE members SUNG HAN BIN and SEOK MATTHEW will join will.i.am as special co-hosts for the episode. This marks the artist’s first return to South Korean television in over a decade, and fans can expect to see will.i.am share insights into his creative process, including the making of the Black Eyed Peas’ smash hit “Boom Boom Pow.” He will also perform alongside the members of ZEROBASEONE and dive into Korean pop culture by exploring viral memes and trends.
This appearance builds on will.i.am’s history of collaborations with South Korean artists. Notably, in 2011, he joined forces with CL, the leader of K-pop group 2NE1, to perform “Where Is the Love?” at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in Singapore.
Beyond his music career, will.i.am is known for his entrepreneurial ventures, including being the founder and CEO of FYI, an AI-powered Web 3.0 messenger platform. His wide-ranging accomplishments have earned him prestigious accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, and a TIME 100 Impact Award. He has also performed at two Super Bowl Halftime Shows—once in Dallas (2011) and again in Las Vegas (2024).
In the upcoming episode, will.i.am will showcase his freestyle rap skills through the innovative AI-powered FYI platform, combining his passion for music and technology in a unique performance.
The K-Star Next Door, a popular talk show hosted by YouTuber Jonathan, is known for its candid, lighthearted interviews with a range of global stars, including BTS’s Jin. The show is set to return for its fifth season in the spring.
