Rocker Jesse Malin, inspired by the remarkable Bob Benjamin, will take the stage for the 25th anniversary of the Light of Day WinterFest on January 18 at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank. The event, dubbed Bob’s Birthday Bash, celebrates the birthday of Benjamin, the founder of the festival, which raises awareness and funds for Parkinson’s disease.
Malin, who himself faced a spinal stroke that left him temporarily unable to walk, will perform with his band at this important event. Benjamin, who has been living with Parkinson’s disease for three decades, has become an unwavering advocate in the fight against the illness, dedicating his life to raising awareness and funds.
“Bob is truly a fighter and an inspiration,” Malin said in a recent interview. “He has a positive mental attitude, and his love for rock ‘n’ roll and peace is unmatched. His journey has turned into a crusade to make a difference, and the people around him reflect his character.”
As Benjamin marks his 30th year battling Parkinson’s, the event will continue to highlight the power of community, resilience, and the pursuit of a cure.
