Kesha has lent her powerful voice to a new documentary about renowned songwriter Diane Warren. The pop star released “Dear Me,” a heartfelt ballad written by Warren herself, featured in Diane Warren: Relentless, a MasterClass documentary that premiered earlier this month.
In a statement, Kesha shared her deep connection to Warren, explaining that her relationship with the legendary songwriter spans generations. “We all know that Diane Warren is one of the most iconic songwriters of our time, but many people don’t know that my connection with her is multigenerational,” Kesha said, reflecting on her mother, Pebe Sebert, who collaborated with Warren in the 1980s.
Kesha further described the significance of the song, revealing how it marked a special moment in their ongoing creative partnership. “Once my music broke into the scene in 2008, we have worked on projects together, and every song more iconic than the next, but none of them ever were publicly released,” she noted. “This song was so special for her to ask me to sing. It’s a song written to herself for her documentary, and she has said it’s one of the most special songs she’s ever written in her life.”
Praising Warren’s dedication to her craft, Kesha added, “She’s so committed to her art, and it’s so inspiring. I hope you all love the movie, and Diane, I hope I did your song justice.”
