KickFlip, one of the most anticipated rookie groups in K-pop this year, has officially debuted, bringing fresh energy and confidence to the industry. The seven-member boy band, formed under JYP Entertainment, aims to make a lasting impact with their dynamic sound and bold ambitions.
At their debut press conference at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, leader Kyehoon expressed his excitement: “I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life. KickFlip will work really hard moving forward.”
KickFlip marks JYP Entertainment’s first boy group debut in seven years, following the success of Stray Kids in 2018. Several of the members, including Keiju, Amaru, and Donghyun, were discovered through the SBS audition program Loud in 2021. Kyehoon, who placed first in JYP’s official audition in 2016, has been a trainee for many years, while Donghwa, Juwang, and Minje complete the group lineup.
The group’s debut album, Flip it, Kick it!, has already exceeded 300,000 pre-order sales, reflecting the high expectations surrounding them. The album features the pre-release track “Umm Great” and the title song “Mama Said,” both of which showcase the group’s youthful, carefree energy with infectious melodies, upbeat rhythms, and lyrics that encourage living freely without worrying about societal opinions.
The album, which includes six tracks such as “Warriors,” “Knock Knock,” “Like A Monster,” and “See You Tomorrow,” also highlights KickFlip’s involvement in the music-making process. Members Kyehoon, Amaru, Donghwa, and Minje contributed to the songwriting for several tracks, signaling the group’s desire to have a hands-on role in shaping their sound.
With their debut, KickFlip is poised to become a fresh force in K-pop, with an album and sound that promises to resonate with fans worldwide.
