West Cork-based musician Paudy H has unveiled his latest single, “Honky Tonk Two Steppin’ Beer Drinking Saturday Night,” a high-energy track that blends Irish and American country influences. The song was written by Jon Filbert, one of the UK’s most prominent country music songwriters, and marks Paudy H’s unique interpretation of the lively tune.
Paudy H explained the creative process behind the song, noting his effort to blend traditional Irish country with the American style that Filbert’s writing typically leans toward. “I wanted to incorporate the Irish country music sound into it, so it has both an American and Celtic Irish vibe,” he said. “It’s an upbeat, high-energy song that I’m excited to share.”
In addition to his new single, Paudy H also recorded a special version of Shakin’ Stevens’ iconic holiday hit “Merry Christmas Everyone,” which featured the voices of students from Dromclough National School in Bantry. The performance, which he called a “lovely reaction,” brought a fresh, vibrant twist to the classic Christmas song. “The kids sang their hearts out,” he shared, expressing pride in both their performance and the collaboration.
