Lil Wayne recently shared his personal favorite rap verse, surprising many with his choice. During a conversation with Maverick Carter for the Mavericks series, Weezy selected a verse from his solo track “Block Burner” off the Hot Boys’ debut album, Get It How U Live!—a project released almost 30 years ago in 1997.
The 42-year-old rapper explained that the verse from “Block Burner” remains his best work to date. He recalled how it earned him respect from fellow hip-hop artists, especially those from New York. “To me, to this day, my best verse is gonna always be my verse on my first solo song on the Hot Boys album,” Wayne shared. “When we would go do shows in New York, even a TV show or something, if they had another New York artist on that, they would always pull me to the side and let me know, ‘Bro, I respect that you rap like that and don’t cuss.’”
Wayne is gearing up for a mini-tour with his Hot Boys group mates, continuing their reunion from the 2024 Lil’ WeezyAna Festival. The tour kicks off in Tampa, FL, on February 21, with stops in Charlotte, NC, and St. Louis, MO, wrapping up on February 28.
