Lady Gaga is set to make a bold return to her pop roots with her seventh studio album, Mayhem, scheduled for release on March 7, 2025. The album marks a significant shift back to the sound that first made her a global sensation.
Describing the creative process behind Mayhem, Gaga likened it to “reassembling a shattered mirror.” While the pieces may never fit together perfectly, she believes the result is something beautiful and uniquely whole in its own right. She also expressed that the album reflects her personal journey of overcoming her fear of returning to the pop genre that initially captured the hearts of her earliest fans.
To build anticipation for the album, Gaga plans to unveil the third single during a commercial break at the upcoming Grammy Awards, airing this Sunday on CBS and Paramount+. A full tracklist for the album will be revealed in the near future.
Mayhem follows Gaga’s 2023 release Harlequin, a jazz and big band-inspired album created as part of her role in the Joker: Folie à Deux film, where she stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn. This marks Gaga’s first full pop album since Chromatica, which was released in 2020 and featured hits like “Stupid Love” and “Rain on Me” with Ariana Grande.
