Black Sabbath has announced their final-ever live performance, set to take place on July 5 at Villa Park in their hometown of Birmingham, England. The legendary heavy metal band’s classic lineup—featuring Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—will reunite for the first time in two decades for the historic show, dubbed “Back To The Beginning.”
The news was unveiled by Iommi and Sharon Osbourne, the wife and manager of Ozzy. “It’s my time to go ‘Back To The Beginning’… time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Ozzy said in a statement. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
Alongside Black Sabbath, the concert will feature performances from some of metal’s biggest names, including Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantera, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Halestorm, and recent Grammy Award-winners Gojira. Other artists such as Billy Corgan, David Draiman, Duff McKagan, and Fred Durst will also take the stage.
Tom Morello, former Rage Against The Machine guitarist, will serve as music director for the event, which is being billed as “the greatest heavy metal show ever.” The concert will raise funds for charity, with proceeds benefiting Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
Tickets go on sale February 14 via Live Nation.
