Texas country music singer Paul Cauthen has announced the cancellation of his ongoing tour to focus on his mental and physical well-being. Known for his bold persona and hits like “Country As Fuck” and “Cocaine Country Dancing,” Cauthen made the decision to step back from the road and return to Texas for much-needed care.
A statement from “Team Paul Cauthen” shared on social media Thursday expressed support for his decision, stating: “Starting today Paul is leaving the road and going back to Texas to take care of his mental and physical health. We all love Paul very much and are relieved that he has made this decision to put himself first.” The statement also mentioned that all upcoming shows would be canceled, and ticket holders could receive details on refunds from the respective venues.
Cauthen, who was currently on a headlining tour promoting his album Black on Black, had performances scheduled through April. He was set to perform at the Admiral Theater in Omaha, Nebraska, Thursday night, but the venue confirmed the show had been canceled.
The larger-than-life figure in country music is known for his unique style, often seen sporting a fur coat and carrying a cane as part of his “Big Velvet” persona. Cauthen’s music, characterized by swagger and a touch of funk, has earned him a dedicated fan base.
This is not the first time Cauthen has faced personal challenges; in May 2023, he canceled shows following his arrest on drug charges. His current break reflects his commitment to his health and well-being.
