Hip-hop fans got an unexpected treat as DJ Premier and Roc Marciano unveiled their new single, Armani Exchange, while announcing an upcoming collaborative EP set for release later this year.
The project, fittingly titled after a chance encounter, was sparked by a meeting between the two artists at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City.
“True story. Several years ago, I was shopping at Macy’s in Herald Square and passed by the ‘Armani Section,’” Premier recalled in a press release. “I saw Roc Marci there, and he asked when we were finally going to work together. I told him we’d get to it eventually.”
Years later, just before Christmas 2024, Premier reached out to make good on that promise. “I reminded him of that day, and he said that should be the title of the record. The tone was officially set.”
With the new single out now, anticipation is high for what the legendary producer and the underground rap veteran will deliver next.
