After a series of delays, SZA has officially set a release date for the extended edition of Lana, the deluxe version of her acclaimed album SOS. The long-awaited expansion will arrive Sunday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. EST.
Unlike her usual social media announcements, SZA quietly updated her official website with the release details. The singer previously teased the extended edition in late December, originally planning for an early January release, but setbacks pushed it back multiple times.
In response to growing impatience from fans, SZA recently addressed the situation on X (formerly Twitter), explaining her decision to step back from openly sharing details about her music. “I used to think sharing snippets, personal info + music tea would build connection, but it actually just made ppl entitled, ungrateful, and disrespectful,” she wrote last month. “It’s time to restore the boundary.”
Despite the delays, anticipation remains high. A fiery teaser clip shared last month previewed a track produced by Jay Versace, showcasing a more aggressive sound from the singer. “Look I might really be that bitch/Might really got that niche/Got a knack for pissing bitches off,” SZA raps in the snippet.
The timing of the release is significant, as Lana’s extended edition will drop just hours before SZA joins Kendrick Lamar as a special guest during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. Reflecting on their collaboration, Lamar told Apple Music: “For me personally, watching her and her career with where she comes from, it’s amazing to see.”
