GGRC+, formerly known as Guelph Girls Rock Camp, is preparing for an exciting March Break camp aimed at students in grades 4-8 who identify as female, trans, non-binary, gender nonconforming, or two-spirit. Taking place from March 10-14 at the Guelph Youth Music Centre (GYMC), the camp offers a unique opportunity for campers to form a band, learn an instrument, and perform their first-ever rock show.
Throughout the week, campers will choose an instrument and collaborate with four or five peers to create their band. Each group is paired with an experienced coach who will guide them in crafting their band’s identity, name, and sound. In addition to instrument lessons, the camp features workshops that cover essential skills for young musicians, such as rhythm, performance, button making, and zine writing.
The camp culminates with an electrifying performance on March 14, where each band will showcase their original songs in front of family, friends, and the public. This event, held at GYMC, is open to all by donation.
GGRC+ offers a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants can express themselves, build confidence, and challenge gender norms—all while fostering a new generation of musicians in Guelph. The camp is supported by a passionate team of local volunteers and musicians, with backing from community businesses, creating a collaborative space for young artists to grow and thrive.
