DEADLANDS, the New York City-based metalcore band, has dropped a dynamic new music video for their latest single, “Kundalini.” The track follows their previous release, “Villain,” from August 2024, and marks an exciting collaboration with THE PRETTY WILD, a Las Vegas-based metalcore band.
Vocalist Kasey Karlsen spoke about the creative process behind the song, stating, “When we started writing ‘Kundalini,’ everything just felt so natural. CJ [Arey] and I walked into the studio and instantly clicked with Jyl and Jules from THE PRETTY WILD, as well as producer Andrew Wade. There was incredible synergy, and within two days, we had created something truly special.”
Karlsen also emphasized the influence of divine, feminine energy on the track, reflecting a powerful collaborative experience. “I’m beyond thankful to have worked alongside such brilliant and badass women,” she added. “Jyl and Jules brought their unique artistry to elevate the song, and Andrew’s immense talent was extraordinary. We would love to work with him again in the future.”
Jules, from THE PRETTY WILD, also shared her thoughts on the track, explaining, “Kundalini represents primal, divine energy awakening. It channels the force of calling out toxic femininity, empowerment, and transformation. The collaboration with DEADLANDS was unforgettable, and we can’t wait to bring this track to life on stage.”
With this collaboration, DEADLANDS continues to push boundaries, combining spiritual depth with brutal energy, and “Kundalini” is ready to make waves in the metalcore scene.
