Oasis Fans Face Ticket Cancellations Amid Ticketmaster’s Bot Crackdown

Ticketmaster has begun cancelling thousands of tickets for Oasis’ highly anticipated reunion tour, citing a crackdown on the use of bots. The controversial ticket sale, which began for shows in the U.K. and Ireland, was marred by delays and a dynamic pricing system that saw prices soar for some fans.

Despite efforts to limit resale activity, reports indicate that over 50,000 tickets ended up on secondary markets, often at inflated prices. In response, promoters Live Nation and SJM Concerts issued a statement warning that tickets resold above face value or through unauthorized platforms would be subject to cancellation. “Ticket resale is permitted at no more than the price you paid (face value + booking fees). Selling tickets through unauthorized resale platforms will breach these T&Cs and those tickets may be cancelled,” the statement read.

Now, Ticketmaster has begun notifying affected ticket holders that their purchases have been refunded, citing the use of bots as the reason for the cancellations. The company stated that the use of bots violates the tour’s terms and conditions, leading to the refunds being issued. Fans who had hoped to attend the reunion shows are now facing uncertainty over whether they will be able to secure new tickets.
