Avril Lavigne is set to make her Vans Warped Tour debut this summer, performing at the festival’s Washington D.C. stop in June. The pop-punk icon, currently on the second leg of her Greatest Hits Tour, sees the Warped Tour opportunity as a perfect fit for her schedule.
“This summer I’ll be on the second round of my Greatest Hits Tour, so it worked out perfectly to hit up the Warped Tour in Washington D.C.,” Lavigne told “So many of the bands I grew up listening to got their start playing this legendary tour, and many of my friends are nostalgic for those parking lot summers. I’m excited to be a part of this new rendition.”
Lavigne will join a star-studded lineup at the D.C. stop, including 3OH!3, Bowling For Soup, Simple Plan, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, among others. The stop holds special significance for Lavigne, as Simple Plan, who are also on her Greatest Hits Tour, were once an opening act on her very first headlining tour over 20 years ago.
Lavigne’s appearance comes as Warped Tour celebrates its 30th anniversary with a series of three two-day festivals: June 14-15 in Washington D.C., July 26-27 in Long Beach, California, and November 15-16 in Orlando, Florida. Each stop will feature 70 to 100 artists, with the festival’s full lineup being revealed through a “30 Days of Warped” campaign starting February 26. In a nod to the festival’s roots, lineup posters will be arranged alphabetically to give equal visibility to all performers, particularly up-and-coming acts.
