Chris Brown has achieved a monumental milestone on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, becoming the second artist ever to accumulate 100 weeks at No. 1 across 11 chart-topping songs. The feat is marked by the rise of his latest single, “Residuals,” which climbs from No. 2 to No. 1 in its 27th week on the chart, dated Feb. 15.
Brown joins Drake in the exclusive “triple-digit club,” with the latter holding the record at 176 weeks at No. 1 since the chart’s inception in 1992. “Residuals” marks a significant achievement for Brown, as it secures the top spot with 15.8 million audience impressions during the tracking week of Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, according to Luminate. This represents a 3% increase from the previous week.
The track, a CBE/RCA Records release, earned its top spot after spending 11 weeks at No. 2, propelled by the buzz of its official music video and a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance. Although it didn’t win at the Feb. 2 ceremony, Brown did take home the Grammy for Best R&B Album for 11:11, marking his second career Grammy win.
