AJ Tracey and Jorja Smith have teamed up once again, delivering a high-energy Rhythm & Grime anthem with their new track, “Crush.” The pair teased the song earlier this week, sharing a social media clip featuring Jorja rapping her verse in front of a sleek, money-green BMW E30, while AJ Tracey rocked a bold pink Palace and Corteiz outfit. The visual captures their effortless cool, with Jorja also taking the lead on the chorus, showcasing her signature voice.
The song features lyrics like, “Like I spent time tryna build / And you just wanna make me fall, what? / I like that, when you say you’re gonna hold me down / Fight back, if you don’t surf, I’ll drown,” with AJ adding his own slick bars: “Like my girls how I like my coffee, sweet / Or like my Hennessy, neat.”
“Crush” samples the iconic 2006 grime track “Used to Be” from Wretch 32’s debut mixtape Learn From My Mixtape, which originally flipped Brandy’s “Love Wouldn’t Count Me Out” from her 2002 album Full Moon. The music video, directed by LateMilk, complements the track’s vibrant energy, with production from Raheem Balogun, AJ Platinum, and Nathaniel London.
