INXS is marking a significant milestone in their career, celebrating 40 years of their iconic album Listen Like Thieves, which was originally released in October 1985. This album was a game-changer for the Australian rock band, propelling them onto the global stage and solidifying their place in music history.

Listen Like Thieves was INXS’s fifth studio album, and it became their first major international success. The record not only topped the charts in their home country of Australia but also made waves in markets such as the U.K., Switzerland, and the U.S., where it peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200. The album also produced several hit singles, including the title track, “Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down the Mountain),” “This Time,” and the chart-topping “What You Need,” which reached No. 2 in Australia and No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

To honor the album’s 40th anniversary, the band’s surviving members have announced a deluxe edition of Listen Like Thieves, set to be released on May 9. The 3CD/LP collection will feature a newly remixed version of the album by Giles Martin and Paul Hicks, reworking Chris Thompson’s original production. The package will also include unreleased demos and outtakes, a rare BBC recording from a 1986 live performance at the Royal Albert Hall, and an insightful new interview with the band by writer Paul Sexton. For fans seeking additional content, a 2CD version will offer the remix along with B-sides, remixes, and live tracks, while a single LP version will feature only the updated 2025 mix.
