Kendrick Lamar is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time contributing an original track to Captain America: Brave New World. The news was revealed by Anthony Mackie, star of the upcoming film, in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Mackie shared, “Kendrick did the title-song for my movie,” before adding with a laugh, “Hope that’s not supposed to be a surprise!” While Mackie didn’t offer further details about the song, he expressed his excitement, praising Lamar’s talent and mastery of his craft.
The track’s release date remains uncertain, though fans can likely expect it to drop in tandem with the film’s release, which is slated for February 14. This marks Lamar’s second collaboration with Marvel, following his curation and contributions to the 2018 Black Panther soundtrack, which included hits like “All the Stars” (featuring SZA) and “Pray for Me” (with The Weeknd).
Lamar’s Brave New World song will also be his first new solo release of 2025. His sixth studio album, GNX, dropped last November, and the rapper’s widely acclaimed track “Not Like Us” dominated the charts and earned five Grammy Awards, including Song and Record of the Year.
As for Brave New World, the film sees Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson, stepping into the iconic role of Captain America, following Steve Rogers’ departure. The movie also features a star-studded cast, including Harrison Ford, Giancarlo Esposito, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, and Tim Blake Nelson.
