Lady Gaga brought an unforgettable twist to the Night Live 50th anniversary celebration, delivering a playful and unexpected performance during the “Homecoming Concert” at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
While fans may have anticipated a rendition of one of Gaga’s recent hits, the pop star kicked things off with an impromptu duet with former SNL cast member Andy Samberg, who sported a wig and cowboy hat in a humorous attempt to cover “Shallow,” the iconic song from A Star Is Born. However, the pair quickly shifted gears when Gaga stopped Samberg mid-song, joking that it was “bad” and suggesting they find something more suited to his vocal range.
Undeterred, Samberg suggested a performance of SNL’s classic comedy hit “Dick in a Box”—a song originally performed with Justin Timberlake on the 2006 Christmas episode. Gaga jumped in without hesitation, saying, “Andy, don’t be a bitch. I’ll do it with you,” and the duo nailed the song’s playful and provocative lyrics.
The pair was soon joined by Bad Bunny, T-Pain, Chris Parnell, Eddie Vedder, and former Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone for a wild mashup of iconic SNL musical skits, including “Motherlove,” “Lazy Sunday,” “I’m On a Boat,” “Jack Sparrow,” and “Jizz in My Pants.”
This musical celebration marks the beginning of a weekend packed with SNL nostalgia, culminating in the 50th anniversary special on NBC Sunday, featuring a star-studded lineup of returning cast members and special guests like Tom Hanks, Bad Bunny, Kim Kardashian, Martin Short, Robert De Niro, Sabrina Carpenter, and Adam Driver.
