Kendrick Lamar’s GNX has soared back to the top of the Billboard 200 Albums chart, reclaiming the Number One spot following his highly praised Super Bowl halftime performance. The album, which originally debuted at Number One in December, saw a significant boost after Lamar’s appearance during the game, selling 236,000 units and accumulating 161.01 million streams since Sunday’s performance.
Lamar’s electrifying show, widely regarded as the highlight of an otherwise one-sided game between the Eagles and Chiefs, was the most-watched halftime performance in history, drawing a record-breaking 133.5 million viewers, according to Roc Nation and Apple Music. The performance also featured collaborations with SZA and guest appearances by Samuel L. Jackson and Serena Williams.
While GNX reclaimed the top spot, Lamar’s past albums also saw a resurgence. DAMN. (2017) and good kid, m.A.A.d city (2011) both climbed back into the Top 10, landing at Number Nine and Ten, respectively.
In addition to GNX, Lamar’s controversial diss track “Not Like Us,” which includes a bold accusation against Drake, is expected to make waves on the Hot 100, benefiting from its prominent placement in the Super Bowl setlist. The song also earned five Grammy Awards earlier this month, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
