Kylie Minogue launched her highly anticipated Tension World Tour in Perth, marking the beginning of a nationwide journey that will see the pop icon perform across Australia before embarking on a 70-date global tour over the next six months.
The concert, an electrifying mix of her latest hits and timeless classics, marks a return to larger venues for Kylie, who previously performed in more intimate settings during her Golden tour. The success of her albums Disco, Tension, and Tension II, along with the viral popularity of “Padam Padam,” has catapulted her back into the arena circuit.
In response to overwhelming demand, Sydney and Melbourne will each host three near-sold-out performances. The setlist offered a mix of fresh tracks and fan favorites, including the debut of her new single, “Last Night I Dreamt I Fell in Love,” a collaboration with DJ Alok. Longtime fans were treated to a nostalgic journey through her extensive catalog, including hits like “The Loco-Motion,” “I Should Be So Lucky,” and “Better the Devil You Know.”
The performance also showcased the high-energy visuals and theatrical flair that Kylie’s fans have come to expect. Massive video screens, a troupe of dancers, and even a stunning moment where Kylie performed suspended inside a giant laser cage left the crowd in awe.
A highlight of the night was a special moment for 10-year-old fan Savannah Ceric, who was selected by Kylie to join her onstage during the performance of “Where the Wild Roses Grow.” Kylie gifted Savannah a white rose, creating an unforgettable experience for the young fan, which left her mother, Nicole, in tears. “I was just amazed, it was amazing,” she said.
Next, the Tension World Tour moves to Adelaide on Tuesday, followed by multiple shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. Fans in Sydney are especially excited for the show at Qudos Bank Arena, although some were disappointed that it coincides with Mardi Gras night. For those still hoping to catch the pop legend, limited additional tickets for previously sold-out shows have been released.
