Lady Gaga is offering fans a cryptic glimpse into her upcoming album, Mayhem, set to release on March 7. The pop icon’s official website now features a series of floating black letters set against an orange backdrop, hinting at potential lyrics from the highly anticipated album.
When visitors interact with the site, dragging their cursor across the screen, clusters of letters appear and quickly form brief, mysterious sentences that flash before disappearing. Among them are phrases such as “Choke on the fame and hope it gets your high,” “I’m the perfect celebrity,” and “I’ll burn a hole right through your eyes.” Another ominous line reads, “Tap on my vein suck on my blood diamond.”
Mayhem, Gaga’s seventh studio album, will include previously released singles like “Abracadabra,” “Disease,” and her Grammy-winning collaboration with Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile.” “Disease” reached No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Die With a Smile” spent five weeks at No. 1.
The new album follows Harlequin, a companion project for the film Joker: Folie à Deux, in which Gaga stars as Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. Harlequin debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200, further building anticipation for Gaga’s return to solo music.
