The 2025 MOBO Awards, held in Newcastle, England, celebrated a diverse range of talent from hip-hop, R&B, grime, jazz, and Afrobeats. Central Cee, Ayra Starr, and Vybz Kartel were among the prominent winners at the star-studded event, which honors both homegrown and international artists.
First established in 1996, the MOBO Awards were created to spotlight Black artists across a variety of music genres. After a brief hiatus in 2017, the awards returned in 2021 and 2022, taking a break in 2023 before resuming this year.
The ceremony, hosted by comedian Eddie Kadi and Love Island’s Indiyah Polack, was broadcast live on YouTube, with highlights set to air on BBC One on February 21. In 2025, the MOBOs expanded its recognition of Black talent in the U.K.’s rock scene and club culture. Notable winners included Alt Blk Era for Best Alternative Act and TSHA for Best Dance Act.
