John Lydon, the iconic frontman of the Sex Pistols, has expressed his disapproval of his bandmates’ decision to reform without him, calling the tour a “karaoke” version of the legendary punk group.

The band, featuring original members Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock, announced a reunion tour in 2024, with Frank Carter of Gallows and Pure Love stepping in as the new vocalist. The initial shows, intended as a benefit for West London’s Bush Hall, quickly expanded into additional dates across the U.K. and Europe, with plans for Australia, New Zealand, and more in 2025. U.S. dates are also in the works, though specifics are still pending.

Lydon, known for his provocative Johnny Rotten persona, was notably absent from the reunion, and he dismissed the reform effort as a mere imitation of the band’s original spirit.
