Indie rock band Swansun has released their latest single, Loving Vincent, on Valentine’s Day, continuing their journey of musical exploration.
Formed in 2021, the band’s origins were anything but planned. Guitarist Alan DeCucco recalls how the group came together in a “happy accident.” “We were all in different bands, and when a local venue, The Fun House, reached out for a show we couldn’t do, I contacted a friend who played drums, and we formed a band just for that one performance. It went so well, we just kept going,” DeCucco explained.
Swansun’s sound is rooted in “psych rock,” with influences from iconic bands like The Beatles and Black Sabbath. The group prides itself on constantly evolving, with keyboardist Ryan Foor noting, “Our sound is always changing. From album one to album two, there’s a huge difference, and that’s intentional. We’re always pushing each other to try new things.”
For Loving Vincent, the band’s latest track draws inspiration from artists like The Smiths, R.E.M., and The Cure. The song delves into the melancholic tale of a doomed relationship, exploring themes of inevitable failure.
