The Capella Country Music Festival in Queensland has revealed its 2025 line-up, which will honor the late Australian country music legend Chad Morgan. Morgan, who passed away on New Year’s Day at the age of 91, left behind an enduring legacy in the country music scene after more than seven decades of performing.
Known as the “Sheik of Scrubby Creek,” a title derived from his breakout song The Sheik Of Scrubby Creek, Morgan’s career began in 1952 when he was discovered through Australia’s Amateur Hour. Despite his health struggles in recent years, Morgan remained an active figure in the industry, with his final performance taking place in April 2024. He was a co-founder of the Capella Country Music Festival and served as a mentor and guiding figure in the Australian country music community.
In recognition of his contributions, the Capella festival, set to take place from May 6-11 at the Capella Covered Arena, will dedicate this year’s event to his memory. Fans can expect a fitting tribute to a man who was not only a beloved performer but also the “soul” of the festival.
