For the first time in over 20 years, British pop acts have failed to secure a spot in the global top 10 best-selling singles or albums of the year. Despite high-profile releases from artists like Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and Charli XCX, competition from US stars and K-pop groups, including Seventeen, dominated the charts.
British artists had consistently appeared in the top 10 since at least 2003, but this year’s list saw the rise of global acts from the US and South Korea, pushing UK stars out of the spotlight.
