UK death metal pioneers Cancer are set to return with their long-awaited album Inverted World, scheduled for release on April 25th via Peaceville Records. This marks the band’s first full-length release since 2018’s Shadow Gripped, and it promises to deliver a powerful mix of aggressive riffing, guttural vocals, and relentless intensity.
Formed over 35 years ago, Cancer has earned a reputation for their uncompromising approach to death metal. Inverted World explores themes of dystopia, corruption, and existential horror, promising to take listeners on a dark, visceral journey.
Vocalist and founding member John Walker shared insights into the creative process behind the album. “I started writing shortly after the Covid lockdowns,” he explained. “Inspiration comes from what’s happening in the world and curious stories that captivate me. I feel fortunate to still be able to make music at my age.” With Inverted World, Cancer proves they remain a force in the extreme metal scene.
