G-Dragon, the iconic leader of K-pop boy band BIGBANG, has released his long-awaited third studio album, Ubermensch, marking his first solo full-length project in 11 years. The album, which dropped on Tuesday, follows his 2013 release Coup D’etat.
The title Ubermensch, inspired by philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, symbolizes an ideal individual who surpasses conventional values and societal restrictions. According to Galaxy Corporation, G-Dragon aims to showcase a more resilient and empowered version of himself, having overcome personal challenges.
Featuring eight tracks, Ubermensch includes the lead single “Too Bad,” a dynamic collaboration with American artist Anderson .Paak. Other notable tracks like “Power” and “Home Sweet Home” have already topped local charts since their prerelease in late 2024. The music video for “Too Bad” also features a special appearance from aespa’s Karina.
The album’s ballad “Drama” stands out with G-Dragon singing in English, Chinese, and Japanese, accompanied by a delicate piano arrangement.
Upon release, Ubermensch soared to the top of major music charts, with all eight tracks placed in Melon’s Top 100. “Too Bad” reached No. 1, “Home Sweet Home” ranked at No. 3, and “Drama” secured No. 5.
G-Dragon will embark on his solo world tour next month, kicking off in Goyang, South Korea, on March 29-30.
