Keith Urban is set to headline a new music competition series, The Road, in search of the next big music star. The series will premiere this fall, with Urban at the forefront of discovering fresh talent across the country.
Co-executive produced by Blake Shelton, The Road will feature emerging artists opening for Urban at music venues nationwide. The audience will have the power to vote on which artists continue the journey, with the competition moving from city to city.
“I spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs, sometimes just for the bartender. So I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists,” Urban shared in a release.
The four-time Grammy winner emphasized that the contestants will gain invaluable lessons about the music business—knowledge that can’t be taught in a classroom. Urban’s own tour kicks off on March 2 in Fort Worth, Texas, with stops in Dallas and Oklahoma, before concluding at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on April 2.
Tickets for these shows are free and available on a first-come, first-serve basis through The Road’s website.
