K-pop sensation Aespa and renowned singer Lee Seung-yoon emerged as big winners at the 2025 Korean Music Awards, each taking home three prestigious awards during the ceremony held in Seoul.
Lee Seung-yoon was named Musician of the Year, in addition to winning Best Rock Song for “Yeokseong” and Best Modern Rock Song for “Pokpo.” In his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the contemporary relevance of his music: “I aim to create music that finds a place in someone’s drawer, pocket, or flowerpot—music that does not forget the times.”
Aespa dominated the pop music categories, winning Song of the Year and Best K-pop Song for their hit “Supernova,” as well as Best K-pop Album for their full-length album Armageddon. The group, currently on a world tour, sent a heartfelt acceptance message via video.
Other notable winners included the band Danpyunsun and the Moments Ensemble, who claimed Album of the Year and Best Modern Rock Album for Music Manse. Folk duo Sanmanhan received the Rookie of the Year award, while G-Dragon won Best Rap Song for “Power” and John Park took home Best Pop Album for PSST! after a long 11-year hiatus.
