Billboard introduced the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart just a month ago, and since then, several artists have been making their mark. This chart highlights the most popular tracks in the U.S. that blend dance and pop styles, featuring many of the biggest stars in the genre.
In the short time since its debut, only a few K-pop acts have appeared on the list, and all of them have been solo artists. This week, one of those artists becomes the first to achieve more than one hit on the chart.
Lisa Makes History with New Billboard Hits
Lisa debuts two tracks on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart, both from her newly released solo album Alter Ego. With these new entries, she surpasses her bandmate and other major K-pop stars, earning a special achievement.
Both of Lisa’s new songs debut in the lower positions on this week’s Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart. “Moonlit Floor,” a track from Alter Ego released weeks ago, starts at No. 14. Meanwhile, “Chill” enters at No. 15.
Lisa’s Success on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs Chart
In just a month, Lisa has already notched three hits on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart. Her collaboration with Doja Cat and Raye, “Born Again,” reached No. 2 and is currently at No. 5, climbing from No. 8. With the release of Alter Ego, all three of Lisa’s hits continue to make an impact, paving the way for other K-pop soloists to appear on the chart.
Earlier, BigBang members G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung became the first South Korean artists to land on the chart with their collaboration “Home Sweet Home.” Although the track only spent one week at No. 15, it still made a significant contribution to the list.
Lisa now holds the record for the most hits by any K-pop act on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart, surpassing Jennie, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, who each had one hit. With her latest success, Lisa is firmly in the lead.
Lisa’s Global Appeal
Although Lisa’s music is primarily K-pop, she is originally from Thailand, where she remains a superstar. After gaining global recognition as a member of Blackpink, one of the most successful K-pop groups in history, Lisa has forged a solo career blending pop and hip-hop music.
