Elijah Canlas Honors Late Brother JM and Teases Rap EP

Actor and singer Elijah Canlas is honoring his late brother, JM, through advocacy and new music.

At an intimate gathering held at Basta Cafe in Quezon City, Elijah announced “The JM Canlas Badminton Cup 2025,” a fundraising event aimed at raising awareness for mental health. The event will take place on March 29 and 30 at the Don Antonio Sports Center in Quezon City.

In addition to his advocacy work, Elijah is preparing to release a full rap EP this summer. The EP will include previously released tracks such as “Kilala Kita,” “Asar Talo,” and “Loved Song.” Elijah shared that he writes poetry, which he later transforms into music to express his emotions.

The event took place at Basta Cafe, owned by directors Antoinette Jadaone and JP Habac, and featured JP Habac’s Olsen’s Day-inspired drink. Guests also enjoyed brunch with the cafe’s signature coffee and dishes, including JP Habac’s Cooked Adobo.

Throughout the event, Elijah emphasized his passion for mental health advocacy. He explained that sports can provide a therapeutic outlet for people facing mental health challenges. Elijah’s parents attended the event to show their full support for his efforts in raising awareness.

The event also saw the presence of directors Antoinette Jadaone and JP Habac. Elijah and his parents concluded the gathering with a heartfelt family photo.
