On April 10th, Victor Leksell will join the Stockholm Concert Orchestra for a unique performance at Red Bull Symphonic, where his popular pop hits will be reimagined as classical pieces. The concert will feature not only Leksell, but also five talented young musicians who have been specially invited to perform with the 58-piece orchestra.
Among the featured musicians are two soloists: Johan Dalene, a renowned violinist, and Theo Hillborg, a talented saxophonist. In addition, three rising stars will join the orchestra, including Irma Appelgren, Justyna Krzyżanowska, and Kristina Winiarski. Here’s a closer look at these young musicians:
Irma Appelgren
Irma began playing the flute at age six at Gävle’s Kulturskolan. She later studied at the Music Conservatory in Falun and won the Dalasolist competition in 2023. As part of the prize, she performed Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G major with the Dalasinfoniettan. Irma is currently studying at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. She’s excited to be part of Red Bull Symphonic, saying, “I feel so grateful to be part of this project. It’s going to be so much fun to play with Victor Leksell and a professional symphonic orchestra.”
Justyna Krzyżanowska
A Stockholm-based harpist, Justyna is skilled in both classical and Celtic harp. She has studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Justyna has performed with several major Swedish orchestras and toured Sweden with her folk fusion bands. She is eager to bring her Celtic harp to the classical stage, sharing, “It feels very exciting to play at this concert, especially with my Celtic harp, which is rare in a classical orchestra.”
Kristina Winiarski
Kristina is one of Sweden’s leading young cellists. After studying in cities like Zagreb, Paris, Berlin, and Stockholm, she has become a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. She has performed with renowned orchestras, including the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Gävle Symphony Orchestra. Kristina is enthusiastic about joining Red Bull Symphonic, stating simply, “It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
These five talented musicians will add a special touch to an already unique performance, as Victor Leksell’s pop music is transformed into a classical experience alongside the Stockholm Concert Orchestra.
