Yeat and Don Toliver Announce Joint Album Plans Before Festival Appearance

Yeat and Don Toliver are set to perform at the Summer Smash Festival, and fans can now expect them to debut new music during their performance.

Both Yeat and Don Toliver have built dedicated fanbases with their unique sounds, which have earned praise from music icons like Drake and Travis Scott. The two artists, known for their solo work, are now teaming up for a collaborative project. While it was previously expected that they would only perform solo tracks and a few collaborations at the festival, Pitchfork recently revealed that the rappers are working on a joint album, set to release ahead of their performance.

The pair will headline the opening night of the Summer Smash Festival on June 20. Yeat has maintained a steady release schedule, dropping two projects in 2024 alone. He also has plans for a solo album, A DANGEROUS LYFE, slated for release in 2025. Don Toliver, similarly, has kept busy, receiving praise for his 2024 album, Hardstone Psycho. He is also set to appear on the upcoming JACKBOYS 2 compilation. Yeat’s frequent output is largely due to his fast songwriting process. In a 2024 interview with The Fader, he explained, “I don’t write anything, everything just comes off the top.” He emphasized that while his lyrics can feel personal, they are often spontaneous, shifting quickly between emotion and humor. Yeat also prefers an organic approach to his music, using simple tools like GarageBand to capture his vocal ideas.

Don Toliver’s joint album with Yeat was announced on the same day that Kali Uchis revealed the release date for her new album, Sincerely. Uchis’ album, due out on May 9, will mark her first studio release since she and Don Toliver welcomed their son in March 2024.
