Lil Durk Drops ‘Deep Thoughts’ Album While Incarcerated: Listen Now

Lil Durk continues to release music despite being incarcerated. The Chicago rapper dropped his new album, Deep Thoughts, on Friday, March 28, while serving time at MDC Los Angeles.

With Durk behind bars, his management team helped put together the 20-track album with his approval. The project features collaborations with Future, Lil Baby, Hunxho, and Jhené Aiko. This marks Durk’s first album since 2023’s Almost Healed. The 32-year-old artist’s momentum has been strong, as the RIAA announced on Thursday, March 27, that Durk received 53 new certifications.

“With 53 new RIAA certifications, @lildurk has cemented himself with the most Hip-Hop certifications in 2025 and secured a place among the top 50 artists of all time with 52.5 million units,” the RIAA shared on X.

Durk’s team also released a mini documentary offering fans a glimpse into his creative process. The documentary highlights how Durk, despite his current situation, communicated with his team to shape the album.

“It’s gonna be more than just ‘Is the song good or great?’ You’ve gotta think, ‘The album is nominated for a Grammy,’” Durk says in the doc. “This s–t deeper than that. This s–t really Deep Thoughts.”

Lil Durk was arrested in October 2024 on federal murder-for-hire charges related to a 2022 shooting aimed at rapper Quando Rondo, which resulted in the death of another person. He is scheduled to stand trial in October 2025.
