Rock Band Plaiins Releases New Single Through Long Branch Records

Rock band PLAIINS has unveiled their new single “Happy Faces,” along with an accompanying music video. This track marks the first release from their upcoming debut album, set to drop this summer via Long Branch Records.

“Happy Faces” is described as a fast-paced, raucous punk indie anthem. The song explores the duality of the protagonist’s mindset on the importance of maintaining a positive outward appearance while facing the challenges of personal growth and self-deception. Lead singer Chris Reardon explains, “‘Happy Faces’ reflects the tension between promoting an optimistic view of life and the dangerous hypocrisy of pushing it too far.”

The song raises the question: does adopting a “happy face” make a person genuinely freer and happier, or is it merely a mask that distorts reality? While the track begins with a sense of optimism, it soon spirals as the protagonist pushes his limits, recklessly buying rounds of drinks for an entire bar on his credit card. The song reaches its peak with the protagonist’s unraveling, shouting “Happy dumbass faces” as his sanity begins to fray.

PLAIINS is known for their high-energy sound and bold personality. Formed by Chris Reardon during the pandemic, the band draws inspiration from groups like IDLES, Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA), and Turnstile. Since releasing their debut single “The Wolf” in March 2022, PLAIINS has earned significant recognition, including major editorial playlist placements and regular airplay on prominent stations like BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, and RBB Fritz.
