Treasure Discusses ‘Pleasure’ Album, U.S. Tour, and Future Plans

by Patria

K-Pop sensation Treasure, formed through YG Entertainment’s popular survival show YG Treasure Box, is nearing the end of their first-ever U.S. tour. The 10-member group will perform their final North American show in Los Angeles this Sunday, marking a significant milestone in their five-year career.

Ahead of their tour, Treasure spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about their newly released EP, Pleasure, and shared their thoughts on their journey since debuting in 2020. They also reflected on the growth they’ve experienced as artists and as a group.

Highlights from the Creation of Pleasure

Treasure’s latest EP, Pleasure, showcases their evolving sound and versatility. The album features a mix of genres, allowing the group to explore new musical styles.

Doyoung explains, “Our members were deeply involved in creating this album. Pleasure is special to us because it combines Treasure’s unique approach to love.”

Haruto adds, “My favorite track is ‘Yellow’. It’s catchy and has a charm that makes you want to play it on repeat. The collaboration on the lyrics with Sahi, Hyunsuk, Yoshi, and myself was ambitious and meaningful.”

Jaehyuk shares his excitement for the track “Whatever, Whenever,” saying, “The lyrics and the flow of the song really move me. I can already imagine our fans singing along with us during concerts, and that makes me so excited.”

Exploring New Genres

With Pleasure, Treasure wanted to introduce their fans, known as Treasure Makers, to different sides of their musical identity.

Junkyu says, “We love showing new sides of Treasure. This album was our way of unveiling those new aspects to our fans.”

Strengthening Team Dynamics

As the group navigates their growing careers, communication has been key to maintaining harmony.

Hyunsuk explains, “We have many members, which means many opinions. But after spending so much time together, coordinating our ideas has become easier. We’ve developed strong teamwork, and we can rely on each other more than ever. We’re confident in our abilities as musicians, and we feel like we’re achieving success together.”

Shaping Their Image

Now, five years into their career, Treasure’s image remains focused on delivering powerful performances.

Jihoon says, “Our goal is to show fans and newcomers that, while there are many talented groups, we are artists who truly enjoy performing. We want to give spectacular performances that feel effortless.”

Personal Growth as Artists

Over the years, performing on stage has helped the members grow both professionally and personally.

Jeongwoo shares, “At first, we felt nervous and awkward performing. But now, we’ve learned how to relax and enjoy ourselves. We’re also learning how to create lasting memories for our fans.”

Anticipating Their First U.S. Tour

For many U.S. fans, this will be their first opportunity to see Treasure live. The group is excited to offer a fresh experience.

Jihoon explains, “Watching us on video is different from seeing us live. Our performances truly shine on stage, and we hope fans will appreciate the energy and connection we create in person. The live band will only enhance the experience.”

Yoshi adds, “In Korea, we’re known as a performance-driven group, and we hope to be recognized for the same thing in the U.S.”

Performing with a Live Band

For nearly three years, Treasure has been collaborating with live session band members during concerts. This partnership enhances the overall concert experience.

Jihoon emphasizes, “While it might not always be obvious, the live band plays an important role in our performances. They help us amplify the energy of the venue, and we’re excited to bring that to the U.S. audiences.”

Beyond the Performances

As the group explores the U.S., they are also looking forward to experiencing the country’s scenery.

Junghwan recalls, “I visited the U.S. when I was young, so I’m excited to see the outdoor landscapes and explore new places.”

Future Goals for Treasure

Looking ahead, Treasure has big plans for their music and live shows.

Jihoon shares their short-term goals, saying, “This year, we want to plan an even bigger and better tour. Our goal is to put together a well-crafted setlist that’s enjoyable for both new and long-time fans, and to meet as many people as possible through our performances.”

As Treasure continues to grow as artists, they remain focused on creating unforgettable moments for their fans and making a lasting impact in the global music scene.
