Beverly Hills, CA — BMI announced today that GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Benson Boone will receive the BMI Champion Award at the 2025 BMI Pop Awards. The event will take place on May 13 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The ceremony will celebrate Boone’s fast-rising career, which has earned him major accolades and a large global fanbase. In addition to Boone’s recognition, BMI will also present awards for Pop Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Publisher of the Year, and honor the 50 most-performed pop songs in the U.S. from the past year.

The private event will be hosted by BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill, along with Vice Presidents Barbara Cane (Worldwide Creative), Samantha Cox (Creative, New York), and Tracie Verlinde (Creative, Los Angeles).

“Benson Boone has reshaped today’s global music and culture with his strong spirit and love for his craft,” said Barbara Cane. “He is one of the most exciting hitmakers right now. His honest storytelling and authenticity inspire many. We are proud to recognize him as a BMI Champion and celebrate all of our talented songwriters and publishers.”

Boone gained attention in 2022 with his breakout single “GHOST TOWN,” which earned Gold certification from the RIAA. In 2024, he released his debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades. The album included the viral hit “Beautiful Things,” which became a 7x-Platinum single. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 for seven weeks, and became the most-streamed song in the world in 2024.

He also had a record-breaking year on tour, selling out venues around the world. Boone performed at major music festivals including Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza, joined Taylor Swift’s ERAS Tour in London, and appeared with Lana Del Rey at the Hangout Festival.

In the past year, Boone was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2025 GRAMMY Awards. He also won Song of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and picked up honors from the MTV VMAs, MTV EMAs, NRJ Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and received three BRIT Award nominations. In 2023, he earned a BMI Pop Award for “GHOST TOWN.”

As of 2025, Boone has nearly 10 billion global streams and continues to sell out tour dates. His newest single, “Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else,” is out now, and he plans to release a new album this summer.

Boone joins a group of past BMI Champion Award recipients who were recognized for supporting future generations of songwriters. Previous honorees include Peso Pluma, SZA, Jonathan McReynolds, Khalid, Mark Ronson, Residente, Sebastian Krys, Keith Urban, and Lee Thomas Miller.
